Homemade Cotswold Hot Chocolate

Our Luxury Hot Chocolate is designed to be rich, smooth and easy to make. It’s great for the colder evenings and festive days, and it hits the spot every time.

Which Size Should You Get?

As with most of our other products, we offer our Luxury Hot Chocolate in multiple sizes, and the choice is really about your personal usage.

If you’re using it at home, the 1kg bag is perfect. It fits in the cupboard easily, stays fresh and is perfect for somebody who drinks hot chocolate a couple times a week.

If you find that you go through a lot of hot chocolate, have a big family of hot chocolate drinkers or just don't want to be ordering as regularly, then the 2kg tin is for you. It’s also great for the workplace or cafes.

So to summarise:

1kg Luxury Hot Chocolate: Good for occasional to regular home usage.

2kg Luxury Hot Chocolate: If you use it fast or make hot chocolate for multiple people.

Our Favourite Hot Chocolate Recipe

Whichever pack size you go for, here’s a simple recipe that will give you a consistently smooth and comforting hot chocolate.

Ingredients (makes one mug):

  • 2 heaped tablespoons of our Luxury Hot Chocolate
  • 250ml milk (any kind, dairy or non-dairy)
  • A small pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • Whipped cream, marshmallows or chocolate shavings (optional)

Method

  1. Warm the milk gently in a saucepan (don’t let it boil).
  2. Add the hot chocolate and stir until it’s completely dissolved, and the drink has a smooth and silky appearance.
  3. Adjust the quantity for a stronger or weaker taste, however you prefer.
  4. Pour into a mug and top with your favourite additions.

That’s it, simple, fast and it always tastes great.

Some Different Variations

If you’re looking for a little extra, then here are a few options that work well:

1. Add a little winter spice

A sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg or mixed spice will give a subtle warmth, and doesn’t overpower the drink.

2. Salted caramel

Add a teaspoon of salted caramel sauce to make it a little richer and slightly sweeter.

3. Minty twist

Add a small drop of peppermint extract for a fresh and balanced taste.

4. Make a mocha

Add a shot of espresso to make your own strong and smooth homemade mocha.

5. Add some citrus

Add a small amount of orange zest or syrup. It might sound strange but it works surprisingly well.

Enjoy

Whichever size you choose, we’re happy to be a part of your hot chocolate routine. Give the basic recipe a go, experiment to suit your taste and have it any way you like.
